House lets assistance for firehouses “die.” How will this effect your community?

In the 2021 General session, a bill introduced by Rep. Larry Byrd to present another round of Firetruck Acquisition Funds,

failed in committee. This means that the chairman of the Ways and Means committee failed to or chose not to present the bill for a vote of advancement. What does this mean for rural fire departments across the state? Well, simply it means that another tool in providing equipment for fire and emergency services has been left to “die. Hopefully, the bill can be introduced again sometime and agencies that already feel the strain of providing to communities will see some relief.
